Transplant +5

This is Karen and Mom posting.

Fever came today, as we were warned would happen.  Dad woke up very tired and had a hard time getting out of bed this morning.  It came on quickly and by 10:30, he started on Tylenol.  They did a chest xray right in his room, which came back clear.  Throughout the day, he has received two units of blood and one unit of platelets as his blood counts are still very low.  He also started on broad spectrum antibiotics.  It is highly unlikely that they will be able to tell where the fever comes from, but they did take blood cultures today.

Because Dad's WBC is at 0, his body has a hard time fighting any bacteria or infection.  It is likely that the source of the fever will never be figured out and could be from a natural bacteria in his body that he can't take care of anymore.  Normally, he would be able to filter it out but with a compromised immune system, he can't.  The nurses and doctors are keeping a close eye on it and are taking every precaution.

Prayer Requests:
1) That Dad's blood counts will improve and that these transfusions will help his numbers improve, thus making him feel a bit better.
2) That the antibiotics will do their work and quickly fight this infection.
3) That we don't become anxious but trust in our faithful God to continue carrying Dad through this.
