Transplant 2 Day 12

It was nice to wake up this morning and know that it is the Lord's Day.  I had a good night's rest.  I had breakfast and morning IVs.  Just after breakfast, I had a phone call from my sister, Pat, from Alberta.  It was nice to talk.  Then Barb arrived and we were able to listen to our worship service at Providence URC from start to finish here in the hospital.  It was very enjoyable.

Mike and Rachel skyped with us after church this morning.  We had fun talking with them and their little boys.  Aaron's first question was "Grandma, where's the book?"  They love it when Grandma reads them a story over skype.  Grandpa holds the book and Grandma reads and turns the pages.  The boys listen and love it.  We also skyped with Sarah and Jeremy and their boys after supper tonight.  A few of their boys have colds, so it was nice to see them as they cannot come visit for a few days.  We are thankful for these tools that allow us to visit from long distance.  We also enjoyed a phone call with Andrea and Derek.

Karen, David, and Bethany came after lunch and we had a wonderful visit together with the five of us.  We went for a walk together on the oncology floor.  I'm dressed like a haz-mat.  Just for fun, Dave decided to push me, seated on the walker, while I hung on to the IV pole.  The nurses thought it was a fun theme park ride.

We played a game of cards together, had some food together, and talked a lot, encouraging each other for the week ahead.  We are the Lord's and are in His hands.  We need to trust in Him for the days that are coming.  We are at Day 12 today and the next 10 days will be intense for us as we wait to see signs of engraftment beginning.

From our evening devotions with Spurgeon (Beside Still Waters: Words of Comfort for the Soul): Every affliction is timed and measured.  Every comfort is sent with a loving thoughtfulness that makes it precious.  The Divine Mind exercises great thoughtfulness towards the Lord's chosen.  Nothing happens as a result as a remorseless fate.  All your circumstances are ordered, in wisdom by a living, thoughtful, and loving God.  Our heavenly Father knows what He is doing, even when His way appears to be involved and complicated and we cannot untangle the threads, the Lord sees all things clearly.  His breadth exceeds the range of our vision; His depth baffles our profoundest thought.  Psalm 77:19 "Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known."

Prayer Requests
1. That we may rest in the Lord's promises and know that the Lord carries us each day.
2. Give thanks for special times we can spend together as family.
3. That it may be the Lord's will that we have engraftment begin and a strong, successful graft.
