Transplant 2 Day 10

I had a good night's rest and the doctors have decided now that I'm going to get a morning dose of anti-nausea by IV prior to my normal getting-up time, since I've been continually vomiting each morning.  Hopefully that will prevent nausea for the day.  This will start tomorrow.

I had a good breakfast and the on-call hematologist came by shortly after that.  We talked a little more about the chemotheraphy mix-up situation.  While it is a frustrating situation, he does not think it is a variable high up on the list to impact me.  There's nothing we can do about it.  We also went over how I'm doing.  We are thankful for the improvement I've shown over the past week!  They are quite sure that most of the problems I experienced were from the biodrug.

I had a calm, restful day.  Barb came later in the morning and we enjoyed a quiet afternoon.  Later in the day, my own hematologist came up for a "social visit" as he called it.  We went over how I'm doing, how things have gone up to this point, and what our expectations are for going forward.  We really are not expecting to see any engraftment for the next week, as it takes longer with an actual marrow transplant.  Last time, engraftment started on Day 17 and we suspect that this will take longer.  We talked about the platelet situation as well.  He is off to a bone marrow conference next week, but the unit head will be back here again.  My doctor will be anxiously awaiting news of engraftment from Winnipeg.  He was generally pleased with how I looked and he insisted that in the quiet of the evening I go for walks in the hallway of the oncology floor to get exercise.  I must take my walker, go with someone, and wear a gown/mask/gloves.  We did that tonight and walked the whole seventh oncology floor.  After the past week, I got easily winded after walking the floor but it was good to be out.  It feels good to be winded from doing something, even though it isn't much.  For me, it was quite something.

From our evening devotions with Spurgeon.
The wonders God could do!  He loves us to state our difficulty, that when He gets us out, we will well remember the condition we were in.  After pleading the promise and confessing our condition, we may say, "Lord, if help does come, it must come from You.  It cannot come from anywhere else, so we look to You.  We believe help will come though we do not know how it will come, we are looking to You.  Though we do not know when, we are looking to You.  Though we do not know what You would have us do, still we are looking to You.  Our eyes may be full of tears but they are on You."

Prayer Requests
1. Thanks that I continue to feel stronger and improve after all the treatments.
2. Pray that the Lord will continue to watch over and bless the engraftment process -- that He will bless the donor stem cells and that He will cause my old stem cells to die.
3. Continue to watch over our family members, that our eyes may always be on the Lord.
