Transplant + 31

October 19, 2012

I have been home for a week!  How great that has been.  I have gone back to the Cancer Clinic on Tuesday and had decent blood counts and discussions on GVHD.  I still have my Hickman Central Line, but the expectation now is that it will go out next week.  I have a nurse from CCAC (Community Care Access Committee) coming tomorrow to change the dressing and clean the entry points to prevent infection.  I have to make sure that it doesn't get wet so bad that the dressing comes off and the wound becomes wet, a challenge  if you like a regular shower every day.

I have had a few emails questioning how well I have been doing, because I have not blogged regularly since I came home.  I am doing very well overall. I don't have daily numbers to report on but can only go by how I feel, eat, sleep and energy levels.  I certainly enjoy and need my sleep, it is amazing how a person can be tired 2 hours after sleeping 10 but it certainly happens.  Barb is feeding me well, and I have not lost any weight this week.  Minimal nausea, and no fever.  Most importantly no sign of GVHD !

With the help of friends and my son in law Jeremy, we were able to take off the corn crop this week as well. Amazing crop we have been blessed with this year!  I was able to crawl into bed and sleep this afternoon while all this work was going on without guilt, I needed to sleep. This morning I sat in my car by the silos and grain elevator, overseeing the working equipment.  Tiring job.

My intention regarding the blog is to update 2-3 times a week if my condition remains stable.  If there are changes I will post more often, updating my condition as well as our prayer needs.

Prayer Requests
1.  Give thanks for the Lord's tender care over us day by day.
2.  Give thanks that there has been no GVHD to this point.
3.  For continued protection from infection of all kinds.
4.  That we may be spared from GVHD
5.  That we may continue to trust in God for all our needs.

Isaiah 12:2  ESV
Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.

Together, enjoying the glorious weather!
