Transplant Day - 2

Today is the Lord's Day.  The first of an unknown number away from the fellowship of believers together bringing praise and adoration to our God, taking part in the means of grace.  How good it is to have the written Word, and to able to hear the gospel preached over the internet and on CD's. How good that our God never leaves us, even on our hospital bed!  But give me the courts of the Lord!
Psalm 100:
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into His presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is He who has made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Today in some ways is the quiet before the storm.  Feeling a bit tougher but knowing that we have a lot more to deal with before we start improving again.  It is quite a feeling sitting beside my hospital bed typing, knowing that my stem cells are dead, and my ability to produce blood to survive is gone.  Without transfusions for the short term as blood numbers fall, and a stem cell transplant for the future to make new blood, I cannot survive........
Here is the precipice......Where is my trust?  My help is in the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth.

      Prayer Requests:
1.  That on the precipice, I KNOW that my God holds me.
2.  That Barb and I and our children may rest on the abiding love of our Saviour.
3.  That the collection of donor cells from my brother may go well.
4.  That my body continues to be prepared to receive them.

Thanks for your prayers and expressions of love.

Praying for you and your family, Richard - and for Clarence, too. May you continue to feel God's sheltering arms in the challenging days ahead.

Richard, my prayers are with you...and for Barb and children and extended family.

Lord, may each one experience your peace, your love, your strength, and courage from You. Lord,
And may Your Name be highly praised, because You are faithful, Lord.
Lift each one up on eagles wings, Your Wings, Lord.

love to all...........

Wow, Richard, those are very powerful words in the verse at the top of your blog. Rest yourself into those Hands who will carry you through the waters, the rivers, the fire and the flame....."they shall not overwhelm you"

What an incredible God we serve and love!

Dear Mr. VanderDeen:
You don't really know me but I am a student in your son's classroom. I have been reading your blog with my mom and we are sad and happy. Sad because you are going through so many scary things but happy because you love God and are not afraid of God's plan. Our family will be praying for you, and we do it in class as well. I hope that you get well soon. I will keep reading your blog to see how you are feeling.
Sincerely, Sheldon vanBarneveld(12 years old)
P.S. I am learning about Lord's Day 1 and it makes me think of you. It says that my only comfort in life and death is that I belong to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. I hope that helps you.
